Chevening Scholarship 2026-2027 is a fully funded master’s scholarship for international students. The Chevening scholarship includes tuition fees at the university, a monthly living allowance, economy-class return travel to the UK, and a personal grant and allowances to cover necessary expenses.

Chevening offers future leaders and influencers worldwide a unique opportunity to develop professionally and academically, build a vast network, and gain insight into UK culture, as well as establish long-lasting, valuable contacts with the UK. The Chevening is the UK government’s international awards scheme, designed to develop global leaders. Approximately 1,500 scholarships will be offered worldwide. The Chevening, funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations, offers two types of awards: Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships, with awardees personally selected worldwide by British embassies and high commissions

Chevening Scholarship Coverage

The Chevening Scholarship grants the following to the recipient:

  • A travel grant to come to Chevening events in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria for Chevening Scholarship

To apply to Chevening Scholarships, individuals have to ensure that they comply with the following criteria:

  • Needed Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: The scholarships are meant to target citizens of Chevening-eligible countries.  Visit the official website to view the complete list of countries for which Chevening scholarships are offered.
  • You will be required to go back to your home country and stay there at least two years upon completion of your scholarship
  • By the time of your application, you will have completed all parts of an undergraduate degree, which will allow you to access entry to a postgraduate programme at a UK university. In the UK, this is usually considered to be the same as an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree, though it may vary according to your course and university.
  • Apply to three UK university courses, all of which they are eligible to take, and be offered an unconditional place at one of the three options by July.

You are not eligible for a Chevening Scholarship if you:

  • Be a British citizen or a dual British citizen (unless you are a citizen of one of the British Overseas Territories or are a BN(O) citizen applying in Hong Kong).
  • Be a refugee in a non-Chevening eligible country. Citizens of a Chevening-eligible country and residing as a refugee in a Chevening-eligible country are also eligible to obtain a scholarship.
  • Are an employee, former employee or relative of an employee of Her Majesty Government, or in the past two years before the opening of Chevening applications (including British embassies/high commissions; the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy; Department of International Trade; the Ministry of Defence; and the Home Office), or a member of staff of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
  • Employees, former employees, or relatives of an employee of Chevening Partner organisations are also allowed to apply. Still, if the job was held in the past 2 years, you cannot be granted a Chevening Partner Award by the organisation where you work, previously worked, or are related to through relatives.
  • Have already studied in the UK and received a UK Government-funded scholarship.

  3. Enter your personal information in your profile, save the information and confirm your profile, and begin your application.
  4. Take the quiz to prove your eligibility for the Scholarship.
  5. Complete the application with the necessary information and make the following documents ready:

  8. Proposed courses of study (up to three): conditional offers.
